Instead, every time you choose a rune, you get a “lesser” version of that rune. You can choose to collect three lesser runes and upgrade them to a greater rune when you wish to. Or, you can equip three lesser runes and get triple the effect. That choice is all yours.
How Can You Upgrade Runes in Runic Survivors?
Knowing about runes isn’t enough. You should also know how upgrading them works. In Runic, every time you collect three identical copies of a rune, you can upgrade them by following these three steps:
- Collect three identical copies of any rune. (Can be lesser runes or greater runes)
- Place the three identical runes in the small box on the lower left corner of the screen above the “Upgrade” button.
- Press the Upgrade button to get a selection of 3 upgrade runes to choose from. Take whichever you think is the best!
Now that you can upgrade a rune, you might be curious about which one you should choose when upgrading. Every time you upgrade a rune, you can choose 1 out of 3 upgraded versions. Every time you defeat a boss monster in a level, they will drop a chest. A chest contains a selection of 3 trinkets, out of which you get to choose one. Choosing the right trinket that can sync with your build provides a significant boost, allowing you to clear levels more quickly. Runic Guide: Best Runes To Build
Having a clear idea about which rune you want to build can help you efficiently choose runes when completing a level. Then, what are the best runes to build in Runic? Here are some of the top choices that we can recommend that can help you clear a level with ease:
- Summoning Rune: A summoning rune is a unique rune that summons creatures that deal damage. Choosing this can be tough in the early game but rewarding in the late game. When paired with Attack Split and Damage+ Runes, They can dish out immense damage and possibly crash your PC.
- Linking Rune: The Linking Runes are a special category of runes. They don’t have any damage output but can “Link” spells. When a spell is Linked on Kill, it gets cast instantly when the previous spell kills a monster. Upgrading this rune allows you to use multiple spells via Link. This is by far one of the strongest passive runes.

How To Complete a Level in Runic?
Have you spent hours trying to complete a level in Runic, but the monsters don’t seem to end? This game isn’t like other Bullet-Hells, where you can clear a level only by killing monsters. You need to achieve a certain objective in every level of Runic to complete it. Here are all the steps that you need to follow to reach the end of a level:
- When you start a level, look for a white arrow on the screen that points toward a “Sigil“. You need to navigate to the Sigil, which, when activated, spawns a mini boss-monster called a “Guardian“.
- Kill the Guardian. Navigate to the next Sigil. Repeat Step 1. Keep doing this until you reach the final Sigil.
- Activate the Final Sigil to spawn the Final Boss in the end. The Final Boss of every level has a unique ability: ranged attacks, reflect damage, etc.
- Fight the Final Boss carefully, and defeat it without dying by using your Runes. Once beaten, a final message will pop up after a while.
Once you get the message saying “You’ve Made It To The End”, that is when you know that you have cleared the level.
