The latest Elden Ring update accompanying the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC has reportedly added a significant nerf to the Circlet of Light helm, now only enhancing the Light of Miquella incantation and none of Miquella’s other spells. This change appears to have been an unintended consequence of the developers’ attempt to fix the helm’s buff application issues.

The update brought multiple balance adjustments to Elden Ring, alongside some unintended glitches. Among these, players encountered a peculiar bug where the final boss in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC would die automatically. Amid these updates and bugs, fans noticed a major alteration by FromSoftware that wasn’t mentioned in the patch notes.

A new post on the Elden Ring subreddit by user SpliTteR31 reveals this crucial change affecting a significant item. The Circlet of Light, which was initially meant to apply a damage buff to the Light of Miquella, is now functioning as intended. However, it no longer provides the 10% damage boost to other incantations like the Discus of Light, Triple Rings of Light, Radagon’s Ring of Light, and Multilayered Ring of Light.

To acquire the Circlet of Light, players must defeat the final boss, Promised Consort Radahn, in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. The Circlet of Light has garnered popularity within the Elden Ring community, especially among players interested in “Fashion Souls.” While its aesthetic appeal is a primary draw, its perks, including 5 Poise and a weight of just 1 pound, have made it one of the most desirable items in Elden Ring.

Fans have expressed considerable disappointment with the recent update, arguing that it doesn’t make sense for the Circlet of Light to only boost one of Miquella’s incantations, given that the item is associated with Miquella himself.

Some players even suggested that the helm should enhance all sorceries and incantations, considering it is a reward for defeating the final boss. In response to this nerf, many players have switched to using the Dryleaf Seal, which boosts Miquella’s incantations by 15%.

This unexpected nerf has sparked debate within the Elden Ring community. While balance adjustments are essential for maintaining a fair and engaging gameplay experience, unannounced changes can lead to frustration among dedicated players. The Circlet of Light’s nerf underscores the delicate balance developers must strike between gameplay fairness and player satisfaction.

Looking forward, it will be interesting to see how FromSoftware addresses community feedback and whether future updates will restore some of the Circlet of Light’s former capabilities or introduce new, equally appealing items. For now, players will need to adapt to these changes and explore new strategies to maximize their in-game potential.
