For those wondering who among, Jin Kwan-Wo, Moyong Yul-Cheon, or Jin Mu-Won is the strongest, or if someone other than them holds the title. We have curated a ranking of the Legend Of The Northern Blade strongest characters by sheer martial prowess alone.
15. Neung Goon-Hwi
Neung Goon-Hwi, also known by her epithet Storm Master, is a former member of the Nine Skies, who later due to her guilt decides to help Jin—resulting in her becoming an elder of the Northern Heavenly Sect.
She is also the leader of an information-gathering organization called the Black Moon. Strong by normal standards, she was weaker among the Nine Skies. She fought with Nine Skies’s Jeok Yeob—her strength, or the details of the fights weren’t revealed, but, she lost that battle.
14. Yeon Cheon-Hwa
Yeon Cheon-Hwa, also commonly known by his epithet Nimble Ghost Blade, is an antagonist, and former member of the legendary Great Four Of The Northern Heavens. He along with a section of the defectors from the Northern Sect formed a group of elite Qi sword users called the Protectors Of The Western Heavens.
They have established themselves towards the west of the Murim World. Yeon Cheon-Hwa is considered one of the strongest, but, met his demise in a battle against young Jin. Regardless, his immense prowess with the sword easily puts him among the top-ranked characters in the manhwa.
13. Jae Hyoek-Shim
Jae Hyeok-Shim, more commonly known by his Epithet Ruler Of Iron Blood, is a former member of the legendary Great Four Of The Northern Heavens. Hyeok-Shim, who was considered the strongest in The Northern Heavenly Sect—second only to Jin Kwan-Ho.
He had his spirit crushed and out of fear upon coming across Moyong Yul-Cheon. He cut his connection with the outside world and built his own Fortress, living in isolation since. In the end, he meets his destiny as his whole Fortress is destroyed and he dies at the hands of Mu-Won.
12. Bi Sa-Won
Spear Dragon Lord Bi Sa-Won is another member of the Nine Skies. The series showed little to nothing about him, meeting his death early on at the hands of Dam Soo-Cheon. Regardless, his status as one of the Nine Skies, and the general standard of most other characters in his realm easily puts him among the strongest beings in the Jianghu.
11. Tae Mu-Kang
Tae Mu-Kang, also known as—Chaos Demon takes the number 11th spot on our ranking. He was the one who attacked the ruins of the Northern Heavenly Sect, in order to kill Eun Ha-Seol. He was also one of the first characters Jin fought.
But before he could kill Jin Mu-Won, Tae Mu-Kang was interrupted by the arrival of the Witch of the White Night, who easily overpowered him and caused him to flee. He later made a comeback with even stronger prowess, placing him among the strongest characters because of his insane power and undying abilities.
10. Hyun Hyun So
Hyun Hyun So, also known by his epithet Demonic Spirit Emperor, is a martial master and another member of the Nine Skies. He, when it comes to power scaling, is on the same physical level as Man Chu-San, aka the Heaven Crushing Axe.
Both met their end in their respective battles against Jin Mu-Won. From what we observed in his fight, we can easily consider him to be one of the strongest characters, especially because of his martial status.
9. Sage Jeok-Yeob
Sage Jeok-Yeob is the master of the Wudang Sect and a member of the Nine Skies. He was considered the strongest among the Nine Skies. He died in his battle against Jin, but only because he let his Guard down. In terms of strength, and his martial arts prowess, he far succeeded that of Jin during their fight.
8. Yong Mu-Sung
Yong Mu-Sung is the leader of the wandering mercenary group, the Iron Brigade, introduced early in the series. He’s later also revealed to be the eldest son of Moyong Yul-Cheon. He is a powerful member of the Moyong family and has led the Iron Brigade for a long time.
Readers never got a full view of his martial prowess because of an aura of mystery surrounding him since his introduction. Later, his sealed powers were unleashed by Yul-Cheon in the final battle against Jin Mu-Won. Even though he was suppressed quickly, the sheer power he displayed was enough to put him among the strongest characters in the series.
7. Yoo Seon-Myung
Yoo Seon-Myung, also known by his epithet Hurricane Shadow Demon, is a martial master and a member of the Four Great Demon Lords of the Silent Night. He got his name—Shadow Demon—for his unrivaled speed, which in reality was justified. That speed just couldn’t help him outrun his approaching death, Jin Mu-Won.
Even though his reputation preceded his martial arts prowess, there aren’t many others who could fight toe-to-toe with this demonic scythe-wielding. His unique martial arts and speed definitely puts him in the top 10 strongest characters in Legend of the Northern Blade.
6. Mun Cheon
Mun Cheon, also known by his epithet Spear of Black Wings, is a martial artist master and another member of the Four Great Demon Lords of the Silent Night. He is the strongest of the Demon Lords with strength rivaling the Ruler of the Night.
He fought against Moyong Hyun, and Dam Soo-Cheon and still managed to hold his own against both at the same time. He did meet his end in the same fight, but, it brought both to the verge of end. His spear prowess is definitely on the brink of rivaling that of Jin’s sword.
5. Jin Kwan-Ho
Jin Kwan-Ho, also known by his epithet North Wall, was the 4th Generation sect leader of the Northern Heavenly Sect and practitioner of the secret martial art known as the Gathering Of Ten Thousand Shadows. He was the strongest among the Central Plains and the Northern Heavenly Sect.
Even though we didn’t get a direct expression of his martial prowess, the fact that his unbending will allowed him to look eye-to-eye with Moyong Yul-Cheon, definitely proves that he’s not someone to be taken lightly. Moreover, he also practiced the same martial arts as Jin, making him one of the strongest martial artists in the series.
4. Dam Soo-Cheon
Dam Soo-Cheon, commonly known by his epithet Lone Star of the Cerulean Sky, is a martial master and the current family head of the Valley of No Return as well as the Central Heavenly Alliance leader. He is one of the strongest characters in the whole series, defeating many key enemies.
He later got a share of Deung Yoo-Myeong’s power enabling him to fight toe-to-toe with the powerhouse Moyong Yul-Cheon. In the final climactic battle, Dam Soo-Cheon’s contribution and prowess definitely labeled him as a force to be reckoned with.
3. Jin Mu-Won
Jin Mu-Won commonly known by the epithet Northern Blade, is the main protagonist of Legend Of The Northern Blade and 5th generation Sect Leader of the Northern Heavenly Sect. This placement is not up for debate, for any reader.
After gaining Deung Yoo’s powers, or martial energy he definitely could rival Moyong Yul-Cheon, if he had the time to train the power up he received. By the end of the final fight, he achieved the ‘Absolute’ realm and Mind Sword—making him worthy of his ranking.
2. Deung Yoo-Myeong
Deung Yoo-Myeong is the brother of Moyong Yul-Cheon. Not much about his powers was revealed, his battle against his brother portrayed his strength in a bad light, considering he was fighting in a decaying body. It is shadowed that at peak, both Deung Yoo-Meyong and Moyong Yul-Cheon were on par with each other.
Sharing almost the same battle prowess. Another testimony of his strength is the fact that what enabled Jin Mu-Won to win the final fight, was indeed Deung Yoo-Myeong’s power he gave him, which Jin later shared with Dam Soo-Cheon.
1. Moyong Yul-Cheon
Moyong Yul-Cheon is the main antagonist of the Legend of the Northern Blade webtoon and novel. He is immortal and is believed to be the person who gave The Nine Skies their immense power. He is also the person who was secretly responsible for founding the Silent Night to maintain his political supremacy in the Murim.
He founded the Central Heavenly Alliance, the Nine Skies, and the Northern Heavenly Sect to control the insubordination of the Silent Night. He even founded the Double-Headed Asura to replace Silent Night. He is undoubtedly the strongest in the whole verse. Even though he did die in the end, like every antagonist in a Shonen series—it took three key characters to reach that demise.
