How To Recruit Yan Rurui – Maiden House Stewardess

Yan Rurui is a Flute User whom you can recruit in the Lin’an City. While being a decent mid to late-game ally, she can also provide a you Fate skill upon bonding, making her quite a useful companion.

Recruitment Steps

1. Complete the Maiden House Riddle: Collect 4 Legendary Items named (Fake). Locations are given below:
   • Under Zither in Maiden House.
   • Trade/Steal from Shi Chen, the injured Monk in the Ruined Shrine area of Lin’an (walk on the bag by the haystack).
   • Government Building Backroom, on the table (steal or raise Prefect’s Relation to 100).
   • Artifact Hall/Exquisite Pavilion, on the 3rd Right Shelf (steal or raise Shopkeeper’s Relation to 100).
2. Raise Relation to 100: Chat with her, hear her background, and accept the Night Visit.
3. Go to the Pagoda Area: Located in the Garden to the right of the Maiden House (a zither will be there).
4. Prove Your Status: Speak to the Prefect and provide one of the following:
   • Guerrilla General (Promotion during the Ye Family Quest Line).
   • Imperial Scholar (Top Achiever Trait).
   • Jianghu Master or Jianghu Conqueror (Ending or Character Creation Traits).
   • Imperial Edict/Token (Obtained from saving the Emperor).
5. Talk to Duke Kang: Give him the Seal of the Heaven/Sky (Yan Yun Palace Camp) or Seal of the State (Jiuli Tribe behind the statue).
6. Recruit Yan Rurui: Once all conditions are met, you can recruit her.
7. Bonding: Take her to the God of Marriage Shrine to bond with her.

Shi Chen is a monk whom you can find in the Lin’an City. He’s also a wanted criminal, so you’ll have the choice to either turn him in or recruit him on your team. He can be quite viable, especially because of his Sworn Brotherhood trait.

1. Find Shi Chen: Locate him in the Ruined Shrine area of Lin’an. Walk near or on top of his bag by the haystack.
2. Heal Him: Use 30 Medical Skill or a Healing Medicine Item to heal him for 5 days.
   • Optional: Arrest him for 1k Coins, but you can break him out later.
3. Recruit Shi Chen: After healing him for 5 days, he will join your party.
   • Reward: Golden Bell Technique (Rare Internal Manual).

Questline

• Take Shi Chen to General Lu: Choose to side with Shi Chen or against him.
  • Side with Shi Chen: Gain the Righteous Offering trait.
  • Side Against Shi Chen: Shi Chen dies.

How To Recruit Fang Xiao Bai – Waiter

Fang Xiao Bai is a glove/fist user who offers support and debuffing capabilities. His role is modest, but he can develop into a stronger character through his quest line.

1. Fame Requirement:
   • Ensure you have 3 Fame before approaching Fang Xiao Bai.
2. Challenge Him:
   • Offer to give Fang some pointers and engage him in a fight.
   • Win the battle to proceed.
3. Recruit Fang:
   • After defeating him, Fang Xiao Bai becomes recruitable.
   • On recruitment, you gain:
     • Fang Family Secret Book.
     • Zen Finger (Rare Fist Manual).

Questline

1. Appraise Fang Family Secret Book:
   • Requires 4 Appraise Book and 60 Fist (can only be done by the Main Character).
   • Unlock the Far Sealing Hand (Epic Fist Manual).
2. Give the Manual to Fang:
   • He automatically learns it to Level 10.
   • Fang gains:
     • +2 Strength.
     • +2 Dexterity.
   • Note: You cannot retrieve the manual once given.

1. Win the Earth Tournament:
   • In Daliang City, defeat the 3rd Tournament (Earth) to progress.
2. Participate in the Marriage Tournament:
   • Sign up for the Marriage Tournament and win. Note:
     • You must have 10 Strength or Constitution to withstand Fu Qing’s punch.
     • You can delay entry but only get one attempt.
3. Propose Marriage:
   • Go to Duke Kang’s Mansion in Lin’an City and propose to Fu Qing.
4. Enlightenment Tower Challenge:
   • Defeat all 6 floors of the Enlightenment Tower.
   • Present the Seal of the People to Duke Kang. (Note: You can trade it back later.)
5. Recruitment:
   • Marry Fu Qing, who will already be bonded to you.
   • Gain:
     • Royal-Son-in-Law Trait.
     • Sparkling Palm (Rare Fist Manual).

Recruitment Steps

1. Meet Qu Wangyou:
   • Talk to him in the Herbology Sect. Leave and return to spawn 4 patients.
2. Heal the Patients:
   • Successfully heal all patients to unlock Water of Life Ultimate.
3. Fulfill Additional Conditions:
   • Any party member must meet the following:
     • 50+ Sword.
     • 8+ Strength.
     • 800+ MP.
     • 50+ Toxicology.
4. Thunderstruck Wood:
   • Obtain this item by:
     • Gathering it in the Level 4 Back Mountain of your Homestead.
     • Buying it from the Night Demon Auction.
     • Punching the tree near the well in the Nameless Village (Manual Battle Mode).
5. Final Fight:
   • Engage in a Group Battle against the Evil Doctor and patients.
   • Win to proceed. Decide the Evil Doctor’s fate:
     • Kill: Solo fight against the Evil Doctor.
     • Spare: The Evil Doctor will ambush you later on the world map.

You can recruit Qu Wangyou after resolving the fight. You also gain the Four Saints Origin (Epic Internal Manual) as a recruitment reward.

2. Go to Snowflower Valley:
   • Find Man Tuoluo and choose the “Beautiful” option during dialogue.
3. Battle Challenges:
   • Win a duel against Man Tuoluo.
   • Defeat the soldiers in a follow-up group battle.
4. Build Trust:
   • Raise Trustworthy to 80 by interacting with her and giving gifts.
5. Final Recruitment:
   • Speak to her again to recruit Man Tuoluo.
   • Receive:
     • Lunar Stone.

   • Complete the Special Envoy Quest and accept her personal quests, which involve:
     • Delivering letters.
     • Investigating Zhuge Shenji.
     • Curing Ding Haitang from poisoning:
       • Requires 60+ Medical and:
         • Cordyceps Sinensis, Dragon’s Blood, Atractylodes, Dogen.
5. Final Recruitment:
   • After curing Haitang, participates in group battles at Duke Kang’s Manor and finalizes her recruitment.
   • You can bond with her at the Wedding Shrine with a Wedding Stone.

   • Speak to him regularly, answer his questions, and gain his trust.
   • Zhuge values merit and putting yourself first. Be logical in your responses.
3. Complete Zhuge’s Challenges:
   • Participate in Zhuge’s Chess/Go match at night in his room.
     • Winning rewards the Hidden Cloud Skill (Epic Internal Manual).
4. Deliver Letters:
   • Progress the faction quests until the Special Envoy Quest (2nd Quest):
     • Deliver Zhuge’s letters.
     • Avoid curing Ding Haitang during this questline.
5. Complete the 3rd Quest:
   • Deliver Zhuge Shenji’s final letter to Duke Kang.
   • Gain the Waves Scouring the Sand (Epic Fan Weapon).
6. Side with Zhuge Shenji:
   • Choose to support Zhuge Shenji during the faction storyline, eliminating opposition in the Jiujiang Fortress.

Once Zhuge Shenji’s faction takes over, he becomes available for recruitment.

With Zhuge Shenji in your party, you can visit the Nameless Port to speak with the Rich Merchant and learn more about Zhuge’s background.

1. Imperial Seal Connection:
   • Visit the Sea Serpent Gang to meet Sakura with Zhuge at your party.
   • If you previously fought Sakura, she will attack; otherwise, you gain lore about the Imperial Seal.

Apart from the above characters, there are also various Sects in the Lin’an region where you can recruit characters and Sect members onto your team. However, recruiting Sect Leaders has a different mechanism in Hero’s Adventure Road To Passion.
