In Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, your first build probably won’t be your best. Be it due to limited knowledge of the mechanics or just from choosing random skill trees, it’s easy to sink points into the wrong attributes. Thankfully, you can respec your entire character using a special item.
The Origin potion lets you reset all your attribute points, skill nodes, and as well as perks in one go, with zero penalties. But while the process of using it is easy, finding these potions is another story. Here’s how the respec system works, where to get them, and why you shouldn’t be afraid to use them.
How To Respec Your Character In Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon

Respeccing in The Fall of Avalon is tied entirely to the Origin Potion, which is a rare item that resets your build. Using it refunds everything: attributes, perks, and skills. It’s a clean slate with no catch. Once you have one, simply head into your inventory, click the potion, and drink it. That’s it, no confirmation prompts or extra steps.
However, there is one important caveat there’s no undo option after consuming the potion. Once you drink it, your build is reset, and you’ll need to manually redistribute your points. Make sure you have a new strategy or playstyle in mind before committing.
How To Get Origin Potion

While you won’t find Origin Potions growing on trees, there are several confirmed locations and methods to obtain them. Here are all of the locations and how you can get them:
- Island Asylum (Starting Area): Your first chance to respec is tucked away in the asylum. After reaching the blood altar and laboratory, look for a crawlspace near the lab that drops you into Brother Cassian’s cell. Opposite his cell is another locked chamber. Pick the lock and you’ll find a glowing blue Origin Potion on a table.
- Sunken Village: In the Sunken Village area, search for a Fallen Keeper’s corpse. Looting it rewards you with another Origin Potion. This one’s a bit further into the game but easy to miss if you don’t explore carefully.
- Horns of the South (Fort Vendor): A doctor NPC in the Fort occasionally sells Origin Potions. His inventory isn’t static, though, you’ll need to check back after major story events or quests. It’s not guaranteed to be in stock, but persistence pays off.
- Other Locations: You can find up to six or seven Origin Potions in Chapter I alone. These appear in high-level chests, as rare loot drops from enemies, or as quest rewards. That said, no vendor sells them infinitely. Still, if you’re not respec-happy every few hours, you’ll likely find more than enough to experiment comfortably.
Why Should You Respec Your Character
Early in Tainted Grail, you make choices based on limited understanding. Respeccing lets you course-correct without restarting the game. It also opens the door for experimentation. If you find a powerful item or discover a new combat mechanic, you can change your build to make full use of it.
Don’t worry too much about hoarding Origin Potions either. Most players report collecting at least five to seven of them in a single run, and that’s without grinding or relying on vendors. If you’re testing a new weapon class or just not having fun, use a potion. Just keep one or two as backup in case you want to switch back.
