Silent Hill 2 Remake: Coin Puzzle Guide

Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 Remake revitalized the video game series by delivering a faithful yet different remake. Much like the original Silent Hill 2, the remake contains puzzles that tend to be more than meets the eye. The Coin Puzzle is an example that tests your skills in solving riddles and observing your surroundings.

Silent Hill 2 Remake: Hand Puzzle Guide

The Coin Puzzle is located in the small room behind the 1F save point in the Wood Side Apartments. Before you can start solving the puzzle, you need to collect three coins that will reveal a different picture when flipped. To make this easier for you, here’s a detailed guide on how to solve the Coin Puzzle in Silent Hill 2 Remake.

Find The Man & Sword Coin

NOTE: This Coin Puzzle Guide for Silent Hill 2 Remake is on Standard difficulty, which means that your solution will be different if you’re playing on the other difficulties.

The first coin that you need to find, the Man & Sword Coin, is located inside a safe in Room 206. To open the safe, you need to find the combinations by matching each number to the direction indicated by the writings on the wall. The writings are located just beside the gap that you crawl in through.

For Standard difficulty, the safe code is right 13, left 7, right 11. Once you’ve opened the safe, you’ll obtain the Man & Sword Coin along with the Steel Key, out of which the former will be required for the Coin Puzzle.

Find The Woman & Grave Coin

The Woman & Grave Coin is located in the garbage chute between Room 112 and Room 105. To get the coin, you need to dislodge it from the garbage chute. What you need to do is head to Room 312 on the third floor. Enter by crawling through a small hole in the room and get the Canned Juice.

Throw the Canned Juice down the garbage chute that’s located in the same room to dislodge the coin and have it available for collection. Head down and collect the Woman & Grave Coin from the ground, near the trash dumpsters.

Find The Snake & Flower Coin

The Snake & Flower Coin is located inside a baby stroller at an empty pool located to the West of 1F. This area can be accessed by dropping down the window in Room 116, the very room where you’ll come face-to-face with Eddie.

You can either get the Snake & Flower Coin and make a run for it or clear the area by fighting the 5 Mannequins and then grabbing the coin. It’s recommended to go with the former route as it saves a bunch of ammo and health.

The Coin Puzzle Solution

Now that you’ve collected all three Coins required, head back to the Coin Cabinet Puzzle to start solving it. Here are all the solutions for the Puzzle in Standard difficulty:

For the first part, put the coins according to the given slots from the table. There’s no riddle for this one.
For the next part, a riddle appears saying “The man doth approach”. Follow the second row of the table and place the coins accordingly.
For the last part, the riddle will change to “Where once grew a flower”. Follow the third row of the table and place as well as flip the coins accordingly.
After that, you’ll be prompted to put either the Man Coin, the Woman Coin, or the Snake Coin in the slot.

Placing any one of the coins will solve the puzzle, but there’s a small chance that it may impact the ending. There are other factors, with more weightage, tied to get a specific ending but this Coin Puzzle has an impact on it as well.

Picking the Snake Coin will trigger the Leave ending, the Woman Coin will trigger the Maria ending and the Man Coin will trigger the In Water ending. Solving the Coin Puzzle will reward you with the key to Apartment 201.
