The Hand Puzzle is a puzzle that you’ll come across in Brookhaven Hospital in Silent Hill 2, and it’s the main puzzle that you’ll have to solve in this area. But to solve it, first, you need to find three bracelets — the Marked Bracelet, the Filthy Bracelet, and the Bloodstained Bracelet. They need to be put on the Hand in the Director’s Office, but finding them can be tricky.

The trickiest part is the exploration, as you have to explore the three floors of the Hospital to find all the three bracelets. Only after you’ve found them that you can actually solve the Hand Puzzle and also open the safe in the Director’s Office to get to the Otherside of the Brookhaven Hospital. So here’s how you can solve this puzzle with ease.
Where To Find The Marked Bracelet
The Marked Bracelet is the first bracelet you need to find, and it’s located in the Medical Records office at 1F of Brookhaven Hospital. But to get there, first, go to the left side of the second floor and use the L1 Room Key to get inside Room L1.
After that, proceed to the Utility Room, where you’ll notice a gap in the wall. Interact with that gap to trigger a cutscene resulting in James falling down to 1F. Then, crawl through the hole and go to Medical Records. Here, you’ll find the Marked Bracelet.
Where To Find The Filthy Bracelet
The Filthy Bracelet is the second one, and it’s located in Room D1 on 3F of the Hospital. Now, opening the door to Room D1 is a pretty complicated process as you need to:
- Get the Bent Needle found inside a brown Teddy Bear from the Women’s Locker Room.
- Obtain the 1F Inner Ward Key and the Radiograph of a Pelvis from the X-Ray Room on 3F.
- Use the 1F Inner Ward to go to the Pantry and obtain the Mold Remover.
- Head to the Dayroom and squeeze through the hole there to reach the Pharmacy.
- Now jump over the window to get to the Garden.
- Go to the Greenhouse after exploring the Garden and then jump over the window to get to the Pool.
- Then head to the Shower Room and obtain the Medical Tube from one of the sinks there.
- Head to the Doctor’s Lounge and collect the Keypad Combination Hint from the Board.
- Now head to the Nurse’s Station and unlock the door using the Keypad. The code is 3578 for Light and Standard Difficulty and 7456 for Hard Difficulty. Collect the Moldy Radiograph from here.
- Combine the Moldy Radiograph with the Mold Remover to get the Cleaned Up Radiograph and then head back to the X-Ray Room.
- Solve the X-Ray Puzzle by arranging and matching the Radiographs which will give you the Combination Lock Code.
The Combination Lock Code for Room D1 is Right 4, Left 37, and Right 12. Use it to enter the room and collect the Filthy Bracelet. You don’t need to necessarily to collect the Bent Needle and the Medical Tube for this bracelet, but it’s better to pick them up on your way as you’ll need them for finding the final bracelet anyway.
Where To Find The Bloodstained Bracelet
The Bloodstained Bracelet is the final one, and it’s located inside the Pool, which you’ll have to drain. Since you already have the Bent Needle and the Medical Tube, simply combine them to use them on the Drain in the Pharmacy and get the Maintenance Key.
Now return to the Pool and use the Maintenance Key on the locked floor panel in front to unlock the Pool Pump and drain all the water, then go inside the pool and use your melee weapon to break the wall with the eye symbol to obtain the Bloodstained Bracelet.
How To Solve The Hand Puzzle
After all the appetizers, now comes the main course, which is the Hand Puzzle inside the Director’s Office on 2F. Here, you’ll need to arrange all the bracelets in the order below to solve the puzzle:
- Bloodstained Bracelet (92)
- Marked Bracelet (45)
- Filthy Bracelet (71)
Once you’ve solved it, you’ll acquire the Director’s Storage Room Key as a reward. Using this very key, you can open a safe in the Director’s Storage Room.
How To Open The Safe In The Director’s Storage Room
To open the safe in the Director’s Storage room, first pick up the Safe Button and then rearrange the books in order in the Storage Room. Once you’re done with that, head to the Safe and put the Button on the Safe, but now comes the tricky part. To open the safe, you basically need to input the symbols that represent 92, 45, and 71 in that specific order, or just input the following:
- Button 6 — Button 3 — Button 9 — Button 5 — Button 8 — Button 7
After you’ve opened the Safe, you’ll obtain the Rooftop Key, which you can use to further progress the story.
