Bio Prototype 2 is a popular roguelike with a unique twist. You get to play as an alien organism and evolve toward being the top predator. You can transplant various organs onto your body and create new and exciting strategies to take down other creatures.

While this might seem easy to accomplish at first, if you don’t know what you’re doing, you will be devoured by other creatures without even getting to fight back. To help you become the top dog, here are some essential beginner tips and tricks for Bio Prototype 2.

    Know Which Doors To Take

Like every other roguelike, Bio Prototype 2 also features mechanics where you can choose which stages you’ll attempt during every exploration. The stages here are denoted by doors you can go through to progress to the next stage.

Doors have certain symbols on top of them which signify the reward you’ll get for clearing the stage. ‘Organs‘ mean you’ll find organ parts as rewards, similarly a ‘Box with a ? mark‘ means a mixture of various kinds of rewards. So, be mindful about which door you choose as you’ll get rewarded based on that.

    Always Link Your Organs Properly

Organ linking is by far the most important aspect of Bio Prototype 2. You start with six brain capacities, which can be used to link organs which cost a certain amount of that capacity. Be sure to use this capacity very carefully to make the best use of them.

Organs are of two types, one is offensive and the other is auxiliary. Auxiliary organs are used to mostly trigger the offensive organs on their left side. While Offensive organs have a ‘right side compatibility’ and can only be linked via the ‘Vessels’ of Auxiliary organs.

Be Sure To Mutate Your Organs

After a few initial explorations, you’ll be able to unlock the ‘Mutation’ function in your base. This is one of the most important things that you need to do if you want to create really powerful organs.

Every organ has four mutation slots and a certain ‘Durability’, which denotes the number of times you can mutate that organ. Every mutation is divided into various tiers with values from T7 to T1, where T7s are the worst perks and T1s are the best. Try to get as many T1s as you can on your organs.

Make Good Use Of The Organ Printer

Getting your desired organ can be challenging, especially because the stages keep getting harder with time. To help you gain extra organs, without having to fight, you can always use the ‘Printer’ that’s available in your base.

The printer can provide an assortment of various organs and even some ‘Printer-exclusive’ organs which are a good option if you’re in urgent need of some new parts. Try to avoid getting parts that have a ‘Mutation Disabled’ stat or 0 Durability.

    Take Complete Advantage Of Genes

Apart from Mutation, the only other feature that is very important in Bio Prototype 2 is the ‘Genes’ interface. Here, you can add various Genes which are basically perks that provide stat boosts, rarity bonuses, extra brain capacity, and even attack enhancements.

Every gene has a certain value which ranges from 1-3 which denotes the effectiveness of the perk. You can equip genes with a total value of up to 20. Try to gain genes that provide valuable bonuses like extra brain capacity or attack enhancements for your equipped organs.

Be Sure To Check Your Loots

Something that you might often miss as a beginner in Bio Prototype 2 is the Loot screen which pops up momentarily after finishing an exploration. On this screen, you get a clear view of every resource and organ that you’ve acquired during the mission.

If you’re wondering what’s the significance of this screen, then you should know that there are only so many organs that you can have at a point in time. The loot screen helps you filter out redundant organs so that you can sell them for Cells once you return to the base.

Always Be Mindful When Attempting Stages

Going on explorations costs you a certain currency which differs from stage to stage. Initially, you’ll have to collect a ‘biometric’ token to attempt any stage, afterwards, it will change to a ‘meat’ token, and so on.

If you’re unable to clear an exploration, the tokens that you spent to attempt that stage will be wasted. Therefore, you should be mindful before you think about attempting a stage so as to not waste your valuable tokens.

    Learn How To Fight Properly

Even though it might sound easy to do, knowing your fighting patterns in Bio Prototype 2 is very important. Every offensive organ functions differently, and every auxiliary organ has a different triggering condition.

To help you understand your attacking pattern, you should always try out your build in your base’s training area before using it in your explorations. This not only lets you know your build better, but also helps avoid any wrong organ combination that you might’ve used.
