Apes on the Loose is the last level in Gorilla Nebula that you can do in Astro Bot after defeating Mighty Chewy. But this level is unique as this is the first level in which you’ll get your hands on Hero Gameplay, which basically means that you’ll gain the powers of a cameo bot that you’ve rescued.

In the case of Apes on the Loose, you’ll acquire the powers of Spike from the iconic PlayStation classic, Ape Escape, since the mission is inspired by it. With his powers, you’ll have to catch ten bots as well as find three Puzzle Pieces. Apes On The Loose Bot #1
The first bot will appear after you obtain Spike’s net, but you won’t be able to catch it just then. So what you need to do is climb the yellow ladder and then use your Monkey Radar by pressing L2, and you’ll find the bot hiding in a bush to the right.

You’ll find the next bot as soon as you enter the next area, as it’ll be sitting on a banana crate right in front of you.

This bot can also be very easily found, as all you need to do is simply progress through the main path, and you’ll find it near the large water fountain.
Apes On The Loose Puzzle Piece #1
To find the first Puzzle Piece in the level, simply jump on the water coming out of the large water fountain mentioned above and collect the piece floating right above it.

Go forward from the fountain to the center of the area, and you’ll notice the bot captured by a flying enemy above, under which is a green slime enemy chilling on top of a checkered platform. Defeat it, and you’ll be able to pull some explosives out of the ground. Simply through it towards the flying enemy, and you’ll be able to catch the captive bot in your net.

Progress through the level until you come across a grid-like platform with nine bushes and stone columns in it. The bot will be hiding in one of the bushes.

To find the sixth bot, head up the ladder nearby, and it’ll lead you to a glass bridge. The bot will be right in front of you, but you’ll need to chase it across the glass bridge to catch it. The bridge isn’t very stable, so time your movements right and use Astro’s boosters to avoid any gaps caused by the bot.

The second Puzzle Piece will be on the glass bridge itself, and you can collect it while chasing the sixth bot.

The seventh bot is located on the triangular metal bridge-like structure. To get there, defeat the nearby slime enemy, and below it you’ll find a petal, which you can use to reach the metal bridge.

The third puzzle piece is located just below the triangular metal bridge in the center.

This bot is located just near the triangular metal bridge, on top of a slope marked with downward arrows. Climb up the platforms in order to catch it, but as soon as you go near it, it’ll slide down the slope to flee.

Near the sloped platform, you’ll notice a circular area filled with mud with a crate of bananas in the middle. The ninth bot will be hiding inside this very crate. To catch it, simply break the box and start chasing it.

After catching all nine bots, head to the massive statue in the center of the stage, and you’ll notice a rail coiled around it. Grind it to the top, and you’ll face off against the Albino Antagonist Ape, who’s none other than Specter, the main antagonist from the Ape Escape games.
Defeat the waves of enemies that he summons and then pull the explosives out of the ground to throw at him. After he’s hit, he’ll fall right down, and all you need to do is chase and catch him with your trusty net.
