The latest update has introduced new items that match the corruption theme and are extremely powerful. However, getting your hands on these powerful tools won’t be as easy as you think. So, to help you out, here’s a complete guide on how to get Corrupted Items in 99 Nights in the Forest.

Corrupted Tools are only available in Hard Mode in 99 Nights in the Forest. After upgrading your campsite to Level 2, you will unlock access to the Research Outpost as early as Day 1. However, Hard Mode does not turn on automatically just because the Outpost is available.

So, to enable it, head to the basement of the Research Outpost and pull the lever labeled with your Roblox username before Day 3 begins. If you manage to activate the lever in time, a cutscene will trigger at the start of Day 3, signaling that Hard Mode is officially live. From that point onward, the Corruption System spreads across the map, introducing new mechanics that significantly raise the difficulty.

Once Hard Mode is active, Corrupted Chests begin spawning throughout the map. These chests are the only way to obtain Corrupted Tools, making them extremely valuable. However, you will need to clear nearby corruption threats such as rifts, mutated trees, and corrupted animals first. The more corruption you clear from surrounding areas, the safer it becomes to approach and loot these chests.

Once Hard Mode is activated and you begin unlocking Corrupted Chests, you gain access to some of the most powerful equipment in the game. However, these items also increase the level of corruption buildup while using them. Below, we’ve listed all the corrupted items in 99 Nights in the Forest.

After Hard Mode is enabled, the Scientific Outpost becomes your main hub for monitoring corruption. It displays your current Corruption Level along with any active debuffs affecting your run. Your goal is to prevent corruption from escalating while adapting to the penalties it applies. Below, we’ve listed all the debuffs that are currently available in the game.

      • Hungry Deer
      • Passive Healing
      • Cultist Waves
      • Food Rot Spores

Keeping corruption under control is essential for survival. A major part of this involves actively clearing corruption sources across the map. Taking down corrupted animals and cutting down infected trees significantly reduces the rate at which corruption spreads, helping you stabilize the overall level before it becomes uncontrollable.

You can further improve your control by unlocking the Research Monitor Blueprint from the Hard Mode Chest, which lets you check corruption levels remotely instead of returning to the Outpost. Lastly, keep a close eye on rift locations, as corruption spreads much faster in those zones and can quickly become a threat if left unattended.
