Minecraft is a sandbox game that is known for its open-world exploration as well as a platform for showing off creativity. You can use a variety of blocks to build your fantasy-themed houses and empires, or experiment with redstone and its components to build automated or XP farms.

Moreover, farms like the Raid Farm provide you with a lot of XP, which allows you to level up fast and also be able to upgrade your precious armors and tools. But building the farm is not as easy as you think. So, to help you out, here’s a complete guide explaining everything about Raid Farm in Minecraft and how to make it.

Raid Farm comes in handy when you want to upgrade your gear. Upgrading gears is necessary as it improves your chances against dangerous and powerful boss mobs. Mobs like Wither, Ender Dragon, or Piglin Brute are very powerful, and to upgrade your gear, you’ll need XP.

Moreover, Raid Farm gives you many useful drops other than XP. This is an added advantage, as these drops can be very useful for your armor or for your survival. You can get items like the Totem of Undying, Enchanted Books, and Emeralds. Below we’ve listed all the materials that you’ll need to build a Raid farm:

      MaterialsAmount
      Ladders20
      Trapdoors35
      Glass blocks (optional)10
      Fence Gates (preferably nether wood)5
      Lava Bucket1
      Water Bucket4
Villager (use one that can get a job)1
      Bed1
      Any Workstation for the villager1
      Torch1
      Hopper2
      Double Chest1
      Slabs2-10
      Building blocks130-150

Step 1 – Villager Chamber Setup

Start digging down to build a chamber with dimensions of 3×3 to contain the villager safely. Inside, place a bed and a workstation like a composter with a torch for lighting. Bring the villager inside and let them sleep once to register the village.

Step 2 – Raid Mob Spawn and Trap

Dig a 9×9 block area for raids, and also dig down 3 blocks deep, so that they don’t escape. Surround this trench with trapdoors to encourage raiders to fall in. In the center of the Raid Farm, place a lava trap for Ravagers, using fence gates to contain the lava without flowing.

Step 3 – Damage and Kill Mechanism

Dig a vertical shaft of about 25 blocks under the lava trap so that Raiders take maximum fall damage, combined with lava damage, to gradually kill them in the kill chamber below. Fill the corners of the raid trench with water to funnel raiders towards the lava trap or fall pit.

Step 4 – Cover the Area

Use building blocks for walls around the farm. Subsequently, if you want to make your build look aesthetic, use various types of building blocks to design the exterior portion of the farm based on what theme you are following in your world.

      Step 5 – Collection System

After you’ve dug 25 blocks down, build a chamber with a hopper connected to a double chest for automatic item collection. Place slabs to protect yourself and prevent mob escapes. Dig a few blocks around yourself so that you can place extra chests for storage.

Step 6 – Collection Chamber Access

Add a ladder in the shaft for easy player movement, with a trapdoor at the top for quick access and safety. Remember to keep the collection chamber well-lit with torches for safe operation, or else other types of mobs can spawn in your chamber.

Step 7 – Starting the Raid

This is the most important and the final step. Firstly, you need to obtain the ‘Bad Omen’ by killing a Pillager Captain. Then, enter the farm to start the raid. When the mobs spawn, use a sword enchanted with Looting 3 and Sweeping Edge for last hitting.

Raid Farm in Minecraft – All Loots & Drops

This Raid Farm design allows you to farm Emeralds required for trading items like Mending books from villagers. Moreover, you can also get Totems of Undying for a lifeline in case you play in hardcore mode or are stuck in a dire situation. You can also get Enchanted Books and gears, which can be useful.

But the most valuable thing that you can get after completing the raid is the title ‘Hero of the Village’. You can receive the title if your farm is close to a village. This title allows you to trade with villagers at a discounted rate for a limited time. During this period, you can buy Enchanted Books, Golden Carrots, or upgrade your villagers to the max level at a very cheap price.

      Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

      1. How do I start a raid to use the farm?

You have to get the Bad Omen effect by killing a pillager captain near a village or outpost. After you get the effect, enter the Raid Farm area with this effect to trigger the raid and spawn raiders automatically.

      2. How many villagers do I need?

Usually, just one villager is sufficient to create a working Raid Farm, but multiple villagers can also work. More villagers need more beds and workstations, and this will also be time-consuming, hence it is not recommended.

      3. Can I build the raid farm anywhere?

It’s best to build it near a village or a Pillager Outpost to easily get Bad Omen and ensure proper raid spawning. Also, ensure there are no other spawnable mob areas nearby that could reduce raid spawn rates.

      4. Can I AFK in the raid farm?

Yes, the Raid Farm allows you to AFK while Pillagers and Ravagers spawn. The Pillagers are funneled and killed automatically, or survive at one HP. You just need to hit them once in a while, making farming resources efficient and easy.

      5. How often can raids be farmed?

After completing a raid, you can start another immediately by reacquiring the Bad Omen effect. You can do this by usually locating and killing another pillager captain.
