Grow A Garden is a popular Roblox experience where you plant seeds, grow plants, and sell the fruits and flowers for high profits to get rich. You can also multiply your crop values several times if you apply mutations to them, most of which are tied to specific weather events.

One such mutation that you can get is the Clay mutation, which was introduced in the Prehistoric update on July 5, 2025. However, to get the Clay mutation, you will also need to get the Sandy mutation as well So, here’s a complete guide explaining the how to get Clay mutation and why it’s worth getting.

How To Get Clay Mutation In Grow A Garden

To unlock the Clay Mutation in Grow A Garden, you need to combine two specific weather-based mutations: Sandy and Wet. First, make sure your crop gets the Wet Mutation. This happens during Rain or Thunderstorm events, when your plants look shiny and have water dripping off them.

Once your crop is Wet, you need to wait for the Sandstorm Weather Event. During the sandstorm, crops that are already Wet can get transformed into Clay. This replaces the Wet and Sandy mutations with Clay. If your plant meets the condition, you will see it turn brown with a muddy texture.

What Is The Clay Mutation in Grow A Garden

The Clay Mutation gives your crop a new muddy look and adds strong value to your harvest. This special mutation is a result of weather synergy. It offers one of the better multipliers in the game, depending on timing and conditions.

      Clay Mutation Buffs And Effects

When your crop gets the Clay Mutation, you will notice a thick brown texture and clumps of clay falling from it. This shows that it’s been affected correctly. The x10 multiplier can make even basic crops worth a lot more Sheckles. It only lasts while the crop is mutated, so you need to harvest as soon as possible.

The Sandstorm Weather Event was added during the Prehistoric Update on July 5, 2025. This event causes yellow fog and sand to sweep across the map. During this time, the Sandy Mutation becomes available. If your crops are fully grown, they can mutate when the event hits.

You will know the event has started when the entire ground turns yellowish and the air becomes dusty. The Sandy Mutation gives a 3.894x multiplier and can mix with Wet to form Clay. You can also combine Sandy with Sundried to make Ceramic Mutation as well.

All Mutations Triggered By Admins In Grow A Garden

Certain weather events in Grow A Garden are not random but activated directly by game admins. These special occasions usually celebrate updates or community milestones and introduce exclusive mutations. Each of these mutations comes with exceptionally high multipliers.

Best Mutations In Grow A Garden

The most valuable mutation in Grow A Garden is Celestial, which gives a massive x120 multiplier. However, you can only get it during a Meteor Shower after Nightfall. Other great ones include Rainbow (x50), Shocked (x50), and Sundried (x85). These high-tier mutations can greatly increase your crop profits.

The Clay Mutation is a strong mid-tier option for your garden. If you plan around Rain and Sandstorm events, you can regularly create Clay crops worth 10 times their normal value. It’s especially useful when you pair it with other gear upgrades to size and growth rate.

      Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

      1. How do I know if my crop has the Clay Mutation?

You’ll see brown color on the crop and mud particles falling off it. This muddy appearance means the mutation worked.

      2. Do I need both mutations at once to get Clay?

Yes, the crop must be Wet before the Sandstorm hits. Sandy won’t apply alone if the crop isn’t already Wet.

      3. Can Clay stack with other mutations?

No, Clay replaces both Wet and Sandy. It is a combined mutation and doesn’t stack further.

      4. What’s better between Sandy or Clay Mutation?

Clay gives x10 while Sandy gives x3.894. So Clay is clearly better in value.

      5. When does the Sandstorm happen in Grow A Garden?

It happens randomly but is part of the regular weather cycle. You need to wait and watch for it in your server.
