Grow A Garden is a popular Roblox experience where you can grow plants, raise pets, and use powerful mutations to increase crop value. Recently, the Corrupted Update went live, which added the new Kodama pet in Grow A Garden.

However, you cannot get Kodama from hatching any pet egg, instead you will need to get the Kitsune Chest by playing the Corrupted Event. So, here’s a complete guide on how to get Kodama and how you can use it in your garden.

How To Get Kodama In Grow A Garden

Kodama is a Legendary pet with a 14.5% hatch rate and you can get it only from Kitsune Chests or Exotic Kitsune Chests. These chests were addeds during the Corrupted Update on July 26, 2025, and are tied to the Kitsune NPC found near the Zen area.

You can get a free Kitsune Chest by giving both Tranquil and Corrupted fruits to the Kitsune NPC. You need to fill two separate gauges, and once both are full, the chest becomes available. Alternatively, you can buy Exotic Kitsune Chests using Robux, 1 for 199, 3 for 575, or 10 for 1,699 Robux.

How To Use Kodama In Grow A Garden

After you hatch Kodama, you can equip it like any other pet. It passively activates its ability without needing any manual input from you. Kodama’s passive is called Tree Spirit, which activates when you collect Zen-type fruit.

There is a small chance (around 5%) that each Zen fruit that you harvest will gain the Tranquil Mutation right after collection. This boosts their value and synergy with Zen-based multipliers.

What Is The Corrupted Aura Event In Grow A Garden

Every hour, for 10 minutes, the Corrupted Aura Event starts in your garden. A red glowing orb appears at the center and it mutates fruits with the Corrupt Mutation. If this event does not activate, the Zen Aura Event will start instead.

You will need corrupted fruits to progress in this event. You can hand them in to the Kitsune NPC to help fill mutation gauges and unlock Kitsune Chests. These chests contain lots of exclusive rewards.

What Is The Corrupted Mutation In Grow A Garden

The Corrupted Mutation gives your fruits a dark, glowing red appearance and increases their sell value significantly. These corrupted crops are highly sought after and are also needed to complete Kitsune Quests and Corrupt Channeller Quests.

You can only get Corrupted Mutations during the Corrupted Aura Event or by using mutation gear like Mutation Spray Corrupt. You should use your corrupted fruits to get most of the rewards from the Kitsune Chest and the Corrupt Channeller NPC.

How To Level Up The Corrupt Tree

Unlike the Zen Tree, the Corrupt Tree resets every hour. To level it up within that time, you need to complete quests given by the Corrupt Channeller, and you can find him near the center of the island.

The quests vary but you will mainly need to give specific mutated fruits at certain weights. You should use gear like sprinklers and sprays or pets like Tanchozuru to meet the size and mutation requirements. Giving fruits grows the tree and boosts your chance to get rare drops.

      All Corrupt Zen Quests

There are three levels of Corrupt Zen Quests, easy, medium, and hard. Depending on the level of Corrupt Zen Quest you complete, you will get a reward. Completing higher-level quests will give you better or rarer rewards.

      Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

      1. How do you get the Kodama pet in Grow A Garden?

You can get Kodama from a Kitsune Chest by giving Tranquil and Corrupted fruit to the Kitsune NPC.

      2. What is Kodama’s ability in Grow A Garden?

Kodama’s passive is Tree Spirit, which gives a small chance (~5%) to apply the Tranquil Mutation to any Zen-type fruit you collect while it is equipped.

      3. Is Kodama still obtainable?

Yes, as of July 29, 2025, Kodama is still obtainable from both Kitsune Chests and Exotic Kitsune Chests.

      4. Is Kodama worth using over other pets?

If you grow Zen-type crops, Kodama is one of the best pets due to its passive. For other crop types, it has no effect, so it is more situational than universal.

      5. What is Kodama’s hatch chance from the chest?

Kodama has a 14.5% chance to hatch from either a Kitsune Chest or an Exotic Kitsune Chest, making it rarer than most Epic pets but easier to get than Divines.
