The Great Master Challenge in Astro Bot is the toughest level that you’ll face. This stage takes elements and aspects from all the Lost Void stages and Bonus Levels to create a level that requires a lot of precision and platforming skills. Unlike the other stages, you don’t have to collect Puzzle Pieces or rescue Bots (barring one cameo Bot) to complete it.

To unlock the Great Master Challenge, you need to rescue all 300 Bots in Astro Bot. Once you’re done with that, head to the Crash Site and use the gold statue (which unlocks after rescuing 120 Bots) to create a tower that will lead to the Great Master Challenge. This Astro Bot Grand Master Challenge guide will help you master this challenge quickly and precisely.

    First Section

Astro preparing to jump onto the PlayStation Button platforms in the Great Master Challenge.

The first few PlayStation Button platforms can be easily crossed by jumping over them. On the green platform, use your hover jets to dodge the incoming shockwaves from two Gold Bell Bots. Jump to the next platform via the bounce pad and use your hover jets to defeat the spinning ball enemy.

On the next green platform, you’ll face an Electric Bird Bot in addition to the two Gold Bell Bots. Jump over the first shockwaves and wait for the Bird Bot to smash its head onto the ground. Pull the wires to defeat it and instantly use your hover jets to dodge the second round of shockwaves. Use the bounce pad to move on to the next platform immediately.

    Fragile Floor Tower

Astro using the hover jets on to avoid the fragile floor and head to the next platform. A bunch of enemies are watching Astro perform this feat.

Next, you need to climb a tower with a fragile floor. As soon as you jump onto the tower, move left or right to reach the next bounce pad. It’s recommended to keep using your hover jets after you jump on the bounce pad. Repeat the process and keep moving left or right to use the bounce pad and reach the last floor of the tower.

As soon as you jump on the final floor of the tower, use your hover jets and move forward onto the PlayStation Button platforms. Defeat the enemies on the platforms and use the bounce pad to move on to the next platform.

    Ice Platforms With Flamethrowers

Astro climbing up a wall with flamethrowers attached to the opposite sides of it.

The next platforms are made of ice, which means you’ll be sliding on them while dodging flamethrowers. Climb up the wall and jump to the other side with precise timing to avoid the flamethrowers. Use your hover jets and hover to the left to land on an ice platform.

Immediately jump up and climb up the wall. Keep spamming the punch button as there are enemies that you’ll face while climbing the wall. After that, hop on the PlayStation Button platforms and avoid the enemy projectiles by jumping on the Circle Button and moving to the Square button. Defeat the enemy and move on to the next platform.

    Ice Platforms With Spark Enemies

Astro sliding on ice platforms with spark enemies creating yellow electric obstacles. A bunch of spark enemies are present on the platform in front of Astro.

The next set of ice platforms is filled with electrical/spark enemies. Jump onto the ice corridor and then jump at the edge to the next ice platform. Immediately double jump and make sure you keep left to reach the edge of the next platform.

Jump to the next platform where you need to wait for the cube with the enemy to slam the ground. Circle the ground to dodge the projectiles and hit the enemy as soon as he slams the ground. Jump on the bounce pad as soon as the cube rolls back onto the next platform and repeat the same.

Head onto the next ice platform, where you’ll face an enemy spinning a spike ball. Slide across the platform and then jump over the spike ball to punch the enemy and defeat it. Turn left onto the rotating PlayStation Button platforms. Get your timing right, especially for the Cross button, and jump over them to proceed to the final section of this challenge.

    Final Section

Astro sliding on ice, heading towards the bird projectiles that are shaped like a Square, inspired by the buttons on a PlayStation controller.

On the next ice platform, you’ll face bird projectiles in the shapes of PlayStation Buttons. What you need to do is dodge them by analyzing where the openings are. For Cross projectiles, you need to go under or around them. For the Triangle projectiles, you need to go around or through them by jumping.

For the Square and Circle projectiles, you need to jump through their openings in the middle. Head to the next bounce pad to reach the end of the level. You’ll climb up automatically with the help of bounce pads and meet the Lyrical Master Bot, based on Chop Chop Master Onion from the PaRappa The Rapper series.

Rescue him to unlock “The Golden Bot” trophy and receive a Throwback Outfit for Astro as well as a Gen 1 cosmetic for the Dual Speeder, inspired by the PlayStation 1 controller.
