If you’re a fan of turn-based strategy games like Darkest Dungeon, then you’ll love Goblin Stone. You get to play as a colony of goblins, expanding your base, exploring new lands and breeding the stronger goblins.

With so much going on, it can be overwhelming for beginners and new players to make all the right choices. To help you navigate through these difficulties, here’s a comprehensive Goblin Stone guide for beginners. You’ll find everything you need to know about how to play the game and some helpful beginner tips and tricks for becoming good at Goblin Stone.

Tips and Tricks In Goblin Stone That You Should Know

If you’re new to Goblin Stone or have been playing for weeks, either way, you should know these tips and tricks. These will help you understand the do’s and don’ts as well as assist you in devising proper strategies to win every fight without losing valuable Goblins.

    1. Be Mindful of Your Goblin’s Classes

Every Goblin in the game has two things that you need to look out for. These are genetic traits and class. The class of a Goblin is more important than its genetic traits. Having a class allows you Goblins to use special attacks and become much more viable.

When you start as a beginner, most Goblins will be in the ‘Peon’ class, which is useless. Once you build guilds in your base, be sure to train every ‘Peon’ Goblin into a specific class to make them useful.

    2. Match Your Goblin’s Genetics With Class

The second thing that makes a Goblin strong is its genetic traits. Genetic traits are like a passive ability, which provides permanent stat boots to a Goblin. These can provide both positive stats as well as negative stats.

Genetic traits are of four types, signified by the color Red, Green, Blue and Yellow. Red traits mainly provide a boost to the Body stat. Green provides a boost to the Spirit stat. Similarly, Blue and Yellow boost the Mind stat and overall stats, respectively. You can click on traits to deactivate the ones you don’t want.

    3. Pay Extra Attention To Equipment

Equipments are items you can find from a quest or buy from the merchant and can equip onto your Gobline to make them more powerful. Equipments are class-specific and cannot be equipped on Goblins of other classes.

You can also upgrade pieces of equipment during a quest if you encounter a Blacksmith. With the right equipments equipped, Goblins can become extremely powerful during fights.

    4. Use Your Warrens Everyday

Warrens are the rooms that are used to breed Goblins in Goblin Stone. It takes one in-game day for a breeding process to complete, and you can only use a Warren once a day. They are essential because not only can you acquire stronger Goblins from Warrens, but you are also able to choose classes for those Goblins at birth.

If you forget to use your Warrens, then you are potentially missing out on two strong Goblins, which you can later breed to create even stronger offspring. For more information about breeding Goblins, be sure to check out our Goblin Stone Breeding Guide.

    5. Do Not Recruit Useless Goblins

When you start playing Goblin Stone, you might feel like recruiting every Goblin you come across, but that is not the right thing to do. There are only so many Goblins that you can recruit because there is a limit to that. Initially, you can only recruit 18 Goblins.

There are two ways to get Goblins: one is by recruiting from outside, and another is by breeding two Goblins. When choosing Goblins to recruit, you should prefer to avoid Goblins with ‘Peon’ class or no genetic traits.

    6. Focus On Base Building

While playing, two things need to be kept in mind. One is adventuring, and another is building your base. You’d find the base-building aspect similar to that in games like Fallout Shelter or Soul Academy.

Completing quests can be fun, but making the best out of every day in the game is equally important. Since the day ends when you finish a quest, you should use the Warrens and start construction for rooms before you begin an exploration.

How To Get Strong Goblins In Goblin Stone?

There are two ways you get Goblins: by recruiting them directly from outside and by breeding them in the Warrens. Recruiting Goblins from the gate depends more on luck, so there isn’t much you can do about it. If you have good luck, then you might come across a strong Goblin.

But what you can do is breed relatively strong Goblins with good stats at the Warren to create even stronger Goblins. Regardless of luck, you will surely get a stronger Goblin as long as the Genetic Traits are harmonious. To know more about breeding, read our Breeding Guide for Goblin Stone.

    Combat Tips For Goblin Stone

Apart from getting Goblins, you should also know how to fight correctly. Even if you have weak Goblins, you can take down the strongest bosses if you know how the combat mechanics. So, here is a Goblin Stone guide for combat with some tips to follow so that you can become an expert at that.

    1. Have The Timings Right

The crux of the combat in this game revolves around using cards that cost a certain stamina point. Based upon that, characters are placed on a meter which can be seen on top of the screen. The lesser the stamina cost, the faster you attack next.

These timings can be manipulated with spells and status effects like Slow or Stun. As long as you know the timing of the attacking characters, you can order your Goblins appropriately and win every fight.

    2. Avoid Peons Unless They Have Good Traits

Even though this tip isn’t directly related to combat, but you should know about this. You will be coming across a lot of Goblins in this game which you can recruit. Make sure that you do not recruit Goblins of the ‘Peon’ class as they will only act as meatshields unless you have Guilds to train them.

    3. Positioning Is Key

Apart from the Stamina counting, one more thing you need to be mindful of is the positioning of the Goblins. Every time your Goblin uses a skill, they return to a position depending upon the order in which they attack.

This is very important since if you don’t position your Goblins correctly, you Shamans and Hunters who have low HP might get hit by the opponent’s attack, leading them to get “Mortally Wounded” or even dying at worse.

    4. Team Composition Is Very Important

After you learn to get the timing and positioning right, the next thing you need to know is the team composition. Every time you start a quest, you get to choose your team which should contain at least one Guard Goblin, one Shaman Goblin and Two Damage dealers like Hunters or Raiders.

Bandits are much more like assassins, so you should avoid them unless you have an excellent team to protect them. Guards and Shamans are a must as they will tank and heal your team which is essential to ensure that your Goblins survive.

    5. Equipment Are More Important Than You Think

The last combat tip that you should know is about equipment again. These play a significant role in this game as they provide valuable power to your Goblins. An ordinary ‘Raider’ Goblin can one-shot a Wolf monster if it has a weapon with 10+ power equipped.

Which Paths Should You Take In Quests?

You’ll come across many fork roads while completing quests in Goblin Stone. First, you should always check the map to see what lies ahead to judge which way you should go. Among them, you should always prioritize Blacksmiths followed by Goblins, and then Harvest. Treasures are much more common than expected and aren’t as rewarding as the others.
