Astro Bot: Downsize Surprise Walkthrough (All Bots, Puzzle Pieces, And Collectibles)

Astro Bot features various unique stages, and Downsize Surprise is the one that you’re going to find in the Tentacle System. This stage too has a lot of collectibles consisting of seven bots to rescue, three Puzzle Pieces to collect, and a secret Lost Galaxy portal to find.

As the name of the stage suggests, Astro will be getting a new power-up, which will let him shrink down to a much smaller size. This helps you find collectibles and rescue bots, some of which are hidden away in areas unreachable in normal size. So, without further ado, let’s shrink into the Downsize Surprise Astro Bot Walkthrough.

Downsize Surprise Bot #1

The first bot is located at the very beginning of the stage itself. Once you get the Mouse power-up, simply continue along the main path, and as soon as you climb on the area in front of you, turn right, and you’ll see the first bot locked inside a cage hanging from a tree. Get inside the cage by climbing the mushrooms near it in mouse form and then revert to normal size to break it.

Downsize Surprise Puzzle Piece #1

From where you saved the first bot, turn to the left side of the area, and you’ll notice a tree stump with a caterpillar-like enemy guarding it. Defeat it by knocking all of its sections, and then pull the cables hanging in front of the stump to reveal a little area inside. Shrink and go inside to find the first Puzzle Piece on the stage.

Downsize Surprise Bot #2

Behind the tree stump from where you got the Puzzle Piece, you’ll see three wooden crates. Break them to reveal a small passageway that you can enter by shrinking. Once inside, revert back to normal form and break the wall in front to find the second bot stuck on a web.

Downsize Surprise Puzzle Piece #2

Continue along the main path, and you’ll find yourself inside a bedroom. Here, you’ll notice the Puzzle Piece floating inside a vent to the right. To get there, first, get down and perform Astro’s spinning punch on top of the tiny pot on the ground, which will allow you to reach the platforms near you. Now, all you need to do is simply jump and do a little platforming to get to the vent and then collect the second Puzzle Piece.

Downsize Surprise Bot #3

Stay in the bedroom and look at the bed with the blue bed cover on it. You’ll notice the outline of a sleeping figure inside it that suspiciously looks like a bot. There’s an opening right in front, so shrink down to get inside and then revert back to normal size to blow the cover off and reveal the third bot.

Downsize Surprise Bot #4

Beside the bed is a small shaft that’ll take you outside the bedroom. Shrink and go through there, but on your way, you’ll see the bot peeking at you from outside. As soon as you exit the bedroom through the shaft, turn around, and you’ll see the bot hanging above it.

Downsize Surprise Bot #5

After you’ve saved the fourth bot, turn right, and you’ll see a tree that you’ll need to climb in your mouse form. Do a bit of platforming to climb up your way entirely to the top, and you’ll find yourself in front of a bird’s nest. The fifth bot, which is a Cameo Bot based on the Prince from the Katamari series, will be located right in the nest.

Downsize Surprise Bot #6

Shortly after saving the fifth bot, you’ll come across an area in the main path with a green frog in the middle. Stand behind the frog and blow into your DualSense controller to generate bubbles. Shrink down and ride one of these bubbles to the top, and you’ll find the sixth bot trapped inside a cage above you. Get inside it and then revert back to normal size to rescue the bot.

Downsize Surprise Lost Galaxy Warp Portal

To reach the secret exit, ride one of the bubbles up to the branch from where the cage was hanging. Get on that branch, jump to the next one, and then press the red button near it to activate the Lost Galaxy Secret Exit.

Downsize Surprise Bot #7

After you find the secret exit, jump down and hop inside the lock that the cat is looking at to bust it wide open. Once you’re done, progress and platform your way up the moving cogs to reach the top.

As soon as you get there, you’ll notice a bird on the left looking at you. Go near it and it’ll fly away, revealing the fifth bot, which is a Cameo Bot based on Quill from the Moss games hanging from a ledge.

Downsize Surprise Puzzle Piece #3

By now, you should’ve noticed the big clock above, which you’ll have to climb to complete the stage. The final Puzzle Piece is on top of the clock too, and all you need to do is time your jumps correctly from the minute hand to the second hand in order to reach and collect the final Puzzle Piece of the stage.
