Like every other martial arts RPG title, character creation plays an important role in the overall progression of your playthrough. So, choosing the right stats, origin, and even traits is essential to ensure that you have the best start in The World of Kungfu: Dragon and Eagle.

      Character Traits Explained

Your choice of character origin lays the foundation for your journey in The World of Kungfu: Dragon and Eagle. Each origin lets you unlock unique Kungfu abilities, and extra coins, and even get prominent stats. You can refer to the table below to compare origins and their strengths:

Some traits require you to complete the game once before unlocking. Also, Prominent stats refer to stats with a higher starting value, while Weakness starts with a relatively lower starting value.

Among all the values, the initial coin value holds the least importance since it’s quite easy to come by and holds no value in the late game. Generally, traits like Poor Young Beggar and Mongolian Shepherd are best for beginners.

      Character Stats Explained

As you’ve seen above, stats are an extremely important component in The World of Kungfu: Dragon and Eagle. Therefore, understanding stats is critical for the right character development. Below is an explanation of the primary categories:

      Normal Stats:

      • HP (Health Points): Determines survivability.
      • MP (Mana Points): Represents Qi for Kungfu skills.
      • ATK & DEF: Govern damage dealt and resistance to attacks.
      • SPD (Speed): Influences turn order and evasion.

These stats are the basic ones and dictate most of your character’s capabilities. Every other stat essentially influences the above stats to make your character more powerful.

      Talent Stats:

      • STR (Strength): Adds +5 ATK/DEF per point and enables saber techniques.
      • AGI (Agility): Boosts SPD and supports swordplay.
      • STA (Stamina): Adds +25 HP per point, increasing Kungfu capacity.
      • POW (Willpower): Adds +25 MP per point, enhancing Kungfu levels.
      • INT (Intelligence): Reduces EXP needed for Kungfu upgrades.
      • MOR (Morality): Determines alignment, affecting story outcomes.

The Talent stats on the other hand are the stats that you can actively control. Using both in-game items and Talent Points (TP) you can change these stats to make your character more powerful. Generally, you should maximize your prominent stats first.

      Kungfu Stats Explained

Unlike the Character Stats, the Kungfu Stats in The World of Kungfu: Dragon and Eagle are completely different. These are used to express your martial proficiency, and having higher stats in one lets you practice better techniques. Here’s all the stats currently available:

      • Sword/Saber/Staff/Fist/Finger: Represent proficiency in their respective styles.
      • Melody: Governs musical combat.
      • Healing: Enhances healing Kungfu effectiveness.
      • Wine Art: Increases Wine Art damage but decreases accuracy when intoxicated.
      • Hidden Weapon: Effects ranged weapon proficiency.
      • Forging: Impacts crafting success, increasing every 30 points.
      • Core: Determines Kungfu creation quality, maxing at Tier 6.
      • Critical Stats (Crit Hit%, Crit DMG%, Combo%): Boost offensive effectiveness.

      Status Effects Explained

Do note that Campfires can remove all status effects, saving valuable consumables. Apart from that, Wandering Doctors can also remove status effects but at a price of 25 Pennies.

Beginner Tips For The World of Kungfu: Dragon and Eagle

      Trait and Stat selection

Now that you know what each of the beginner concepts means, here are some valuable beginner tips that can help you complete the initial early game quests of The World of Kungfu: Dragon and Eagle:

      1. Explore Thoroughly: Collect hidden treasures like coins and elixirs. For example, the Temple of Grand Tutor Yang offers 404 coins behind the statue.
      2. Understand Your Kungfu: Focus on leveling foundational Kungfu, such as Toe Stomp, to gain an early advantage in combat.
      3. Balance Morality: Decisions that affect MOR can unlock new characters or Kungfu techniques. So, make decisions very carefully. Good choices increase your MOR while bad ones decrease them.
      4. Use Traits Wisely: Equip traits like ‘Universe in a Sip’ to maximize Wine Art effectiveness. Traits play an important role in the late game, so try to get as many as you can.
      5. Save Resources: Utilize campfires for healing and debuff removal instead of consumables. Consumables should only be saved for final quests or boss fights.
      6. Learn Stealing Mechanics: Increase the Stealing stat to acquire rare items like Life Extension Elixirs. Check out our Stealing Guide to learn more about it.
      7. Equip Efficiently: Focus on enhancing key weapons and armor using ores like Taihu Stone. This can be quite helpful as you reach the late game with better gear.
      8. Try Out Wine Arts: If using Wine Art Kungfu, maintain a high intoxication level while mitigating accuracy loss. While not recommended for beginners, Wine Art Kungfu can be quite powerful in the late game.
      9. Recruit Strategically: Characters like Wu Jinfa can provide significant early-game advantages. So, be on the lookout for strong characters to recruit.
      10. Plan Ahead: Always prepare for major battles by checking enemy inventories and stocking healing items. Do not jump into quests, and remember to save before entering any quest area.
